POUND, Va. - Elbert
Boggs, 58, passed Sunday (Feb. 27,
2005) at his residence in Pound.
He was a retired coal truck driver and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having
served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars,
Disabled American Veterans, and the American Legion. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Lester E. (Oop) Boggs and Ollie Kate
(Stanfield) Boggs. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Boggs, Pound; daughter,
Angela Cradic, Johnson City;
two grandchildren; brother, C.L. Boggs, Pound; and a host of friends and loved
ones. Calling hours are from 5:30 to
7 p.m. today at Baker Funeral Home,
Pound, Va. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the Sadie Baker Memorial Chapel
of the funeral home with the Rev. Carmon Gentry officiating. Pound VFW Post
9600 will conduct military graveside services Thursday at Temple
Hill Memorial Park
in Castlewood, Va.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1 p.m. for graveside services. Family and friends will
serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Sheppard, William Caudill,
Joe Litton, Edwin Evans, Andrew Raymond, Willard Boggs, Tommy Hillman and Harry
Nibert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
the Pound VFW Post 9600
